The story behind medic elle

Background

Welcome to MedicElle. My name is Ellen and I am currently a UK medical student. Like many others, I searched the internet high and low for information about what life is like at medical school, but I always felt that something was missing for me.

I was diagnosed with pulmonary lymphangiectasia as a young child leaving me with lymphatic abnormalities around my body; growing up I always knew that I wanted to be a doctor. Yes, the age‑old clichĂ©, I wanted to give something back to the profession that had saved my life.

The vision

Throughout our lives, we are all likely to experience periods of ill physical and/or mental health. Doctors are not immune from illness.

I would love this platform to explore my experience of medicine with a disability focusing on the key aspects of studying, self‑care and lifestyle medicine.
